How do i book the studio?
You can books tours, consultations and view availability, book and pay for time in our spaces online HERE ! Please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org about renting for events.
Do you allow pets?
We take this on a case by case basis, but generally allow well trained, leashed animals. Animals are not permitted on any studio furniture. Clients are held responsible for any damages or accidents resulting from animals in the studio.
Do you offer photography services?
We are NOT photographers! We are happy to recommend many who work with us regularly but our rental rates are exclusively for the use of space and do not include a photographer.
Can I shoot video in your space?
Yes! We have hosted video shoots a number of times. However, our spaces are located in a building with many other businesses. We cannot guarantee quiet conditions for any sound recording that may need to be done, and many of the other businesses can produce loud noise during their workdays. Please take this into consideration when booking!
Are we allowed to use your furniture/props?
You may use items available in the studio on the day of your session at no extra charge! However, we cannot guarantee any particular items seen during tours or consults or online will be available on the day of your session unless they are specifically rented from Something Old Dayton. You may inquire what is present in the studios 1-2 days before your session, as inventory often rotates. Our full inventory is not located on site and special requests may incur additional rental fees! Please inquire to reserve certain items for you sessions.
When is the light "best?"
As we are a natural light studio, the light changes drastically through the seasons. During the summer we have fairly bright, diffused sunlight until sunset (beginning around 7/8 pm).
During the winter (after daylight savings ends) the light begins to fade around 4 pm and is usually gone by 5/6 pm. We do get setting sun and it is good to note what time you'll be coming in as that may affect the lighting during your session. We recommend scheduling a tour to get the best idea of the light in person! Check HERE for local sunrise/sunset times!
The light is generally the most even and indirect during morning/midday hours, depending on the season.
Is your studio handicap Accessible?
There is a staircase to our studio with approximately 10 steps, and there is a ramp at the loading dock of the building which leads down a hallway to our space. We have not had issues with handicap accessibility but we encourage all clients to tour and asses for themselves whether this will work for their needs! We rent our spaces in the Davis-Linden Building and do not have control over handicap accessibility to the building as a whole.
Can I Use confetti or glitter for shoots in your space?
We do not allow confetti or glitter in the studios. We apologize for the inconvenience, it's just too messy!
I only need a few hours for my party. Can I book a shorter period for my event?
Since our space operates primarily as a photos studio, our process for events is fairly involved and requires quite a bit of setup/teardown to ensure the best experience for events. Therefore, we can only offer full day bookings for events of any kind. Thank you for understanding!
